Doctor of Ayurveda & Acupuncture
Harvesting my homegrown lavender & rosemary is nature's way of giving me an annual hug. If I were back in SL, it would be neem & moringa!

Established in 1981…
Simi has acquired a wealth of expertise and knowledge through decades of mentoring by Dr Shantha Godagama, known as The Father of Ayurveda in the UK. Her father was also the very first Ayurvedic Doctor in the UK and among the very earliest acupuncturists who were sought after by Sir Maurice Laing (a staunch advocate for integrative medicine) to establish the UK’s first residential naturopathic clinic, now known as Tyringham Hall.
She studied Ayurvedic Medicine in Sri Lanka in 2004-2009, Osteopathy & Traditional Chinese Medicine in London, UK. She was fortunate to be taught by her father’s own mentor, the internationally renowned pioneer of acupuncture anaesthesia, the late Professor Anton Jayasuriya where she completed her clinical training at Kalubowila Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dr Simi’s father was the professors first student and she was his last in 2004.
Professor Jayasuriya was a researcher into the origins of acupuncture and taught Dr Simi Marma point therapy which her father later coined as “Marmapuncture”.
Together, father and daughter set up the very first educational platform to study this science, known as the lost treasure of Ayurveda – The British Institute of Marmapuncture.
Dr Simi now runs the world’s only (soon to be fully accredited) diploma course in Marmapuncture, providing supervised clinical training at her award winning clinic The Little Buckingham Clinic.
Recently Dr Simi Godagama was elected by her executive board as the first female President of the British Ayurvedic Medical Association, the longest running professional body for Ayurvedic Practices in the UK.
With immense honour, passion, vision & value for integrative medicine, she carries the torch of her heritage, ancestry and forefathers towards an integrated, inclusive and collective identity for professional Ayurvedic Medical practices in the UK.

“By knowing one science alone one cannot arrive at a proper conclusion. Therefore a physician should study other sciences in order to arrive at a correct diagnosis”
